Jed Horner

Jed Horner leads the project on Health, sexual orientation and human rights and recently completed his PhD in public health and community medicine at UNSW. Previously, he worked as Policy Officer for the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights lobby and as an external advisor to the New Zealand Human Rights Commission (Children’s Human Rights Sector Advisory Group for the first National Action Plan for Human Rights).  In Australia, he has been actively engaged in efforts to secure the introduction of comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation, including protections for LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) people, in Commonwealth anti-discrimination law, through advocacy. He has published and presented in the areas of accountability for health and wellbeing outcomes and routine public health data collection practices, migration law and public health, and sexual orientation as a social determinant of health.
