About the AHRC

The Australian Human Rights Centre is an inter-disciplinary research and teaching institute based in the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales.

Established in 1986, the AHRC aims to increase public awareness about human rights procedures, standards and issues within Australia and the international community. The Centre undertakes research projects on contemporary human rights issues on matters of national and regional interest, and provides accessible information on developments within the field.

The Centre brings together research associates, student interns and volunteers who engage in a number of research and teaching activities and publications. The Centre also hosts a number of seminars and conferences each year.

The Centre Director is Andrea Durbach, who can be contacted on (Tel) +61 2 9385 2543. The day to day administration of the Centre is overseen by Miriam Lyons, phone +61 (02) 9385-1803, email ahrc@unsw.edu.au. A Management Committee oversees the strategic direction of the Centre.
